Davis taps Weiner for bench; Ravel pinch hits again
For the second time in a year, Gov. Davis appointed a District 3 representative to the State Bar Board of Governors to the bench, leaving a vacancy to be filled by a special election. And for the second time, Santa Clara County Counsel Ann Ravel will fill in on an interim basis.
Marie Weiner, an attorney with Cotchett Pitre & Simon in Burlin-game, resigned last month to join the San Mateo County Superior Court. Last year, District 3 governor Erica Yew resigned when she was named to the Santa Clara County Superior Court.
The board authorized a special election to fill Weiner's seat and appointed Ravel, a former bar governor, to the post on a temporary basis.
