The board of governors is conducting the annual performance evaluations of State Bar Executive Director Judy Johnson and Chief Trial Counsel Mike Nisperos Jr. The board is seeking comments on the performance of these two officials from interested bar constituencies. The identity of all commentators will be maintained in confidence.

Bar Court pilot program

Proposed amendments to Rule 801 of the Rules of Procedure of the State Bar Court would conform provisions of the rule to the current practice of allowing judges to conduct early neutral evaluations to make referrals to the pilot program for alcoholic or drug-addicted lawyers.

Proposed amendments to Rule 803 of the Rules of Procedure of the State Bar Court would clarify that, in an appropriate case, a respondent's successful completion of the pilot program on drug and alcohol abuse may result in the dismissal of charges or the proceeding.
