Former State Bar President Charles S. Vogel was appointed presiding judge of the 2d District Court of Appeal, Division Four, by Gov. Pete Wilson.
If confirmed by the Commission on Judicial Appointments, Vogel, 63, will replace retired Presiding Judge Arleigh Woods. Vogel has been an associate justice in the same division since 1992.
Vogel has been a partner with the Los Angeles law firms of Sidley & Austin and Nossaman, Krueger & Marsh, and was a judge for the Los Angeles Superior Court and the Pomona Municipal Court.
He was president of the Los Angeles County Bar and the UCLA Alumni Association.
