Bar to seek views of public lawyers

Representatives of public lawyer groups from around the state will be gathering this month at two special roundtables -- one on Oct. 11 at the bar's Annual Meeting in Long Beach, and the other on Oct. 18 in San Francisco.

Outgoing President Jim Towery will address the first forum; new president Tom Stolpman will speak at the second.

The bar's new Government/Public Lawyer Outreach Task Force -- chaired by Clara Slifkin, a deputy attorney general of California -- planned the forums to find out what government lawyers want and need from the bar and to explore their interest in planning a conference for government lawyers.

For more information, contact Jeff Gersick, the bar's secretary, at 415/561-8358.
