CONTINUED FROM FRONTPAGE The bar purchased the Howard Street building in 1996, with plans of consolidating all northern California offices, except Sacramento, in one location. It also sold its 555 Franklin St. headquarters. However, due to the uncertainty of the organization's future, the sale of the Franklin Street building is on hold. The relocation of the Van Ness employees is necessary because the lease for their offices ran out. Approximately 65 employees are affected. The telephone numbers of those offices will change; the prefix will switch from 241 to 538, and for most offices the remaining four digits will remain the same. The number for the bar court will change completely. Some of the new numbers, all in the 415 area code, are: State Bar Court – 538-2030; certification (MCLE, legal specialization, law corporations, limited liability partnerships, practical training of law students, pro hac vice) – 538-2100; ethics hotline – 538-2150 (or 1-800/238-4427); fee arbitration – 538-2020; and internet services – 538-2109.
