Western State law school wins provisional approval for ABA accreditation
spacer.gif (810 bytes)
Western State University College of Law in Orange County became the newest ABA-approved law school last month when the American Bar Association granted it provisional approval.

The provisional approval will permit new Western State graduates to sit for the bar examination in all 50 states and to apply for advanced degree programs at other ABA-approved law schools.

It will also satisfy the requirement of employers who prefer to hire only graduates of ABA-approved law schools.

Under terms of the provisional approval, the ABA will review and monitor Western State's academic and administrative operations annually for the next two years. If the school receives full approval, it will be evaluated every seven years.

Western State's law school was founded 32 years ago. It has been accredited by the State Bar.

There are now 19 ABA-approved law schools, 18 State Bar-approved law schools and 15 unaccredited schools in California.
