Popular Kids & the Law returning this spring
The State Bar's popular Kids & the Law: An A-to-Z Guide for Parents will
be published again this spring and distributed free throughout the state to
children and their parents.
Produced by the bar's Media & Information Services office, Kids & the
Law provides parents with information about laws affecting their kids, their
relationship with their kids and important resources about drugs, driving, drinking
and other issues facing all families.
Paid in part by a $50,000 grant from the Foundation of the State Bar of California,
Kids & the Law will be printed in English, Spanish and Chinese. These will
be available on May 1. Additional languages, such as Korean, Tagalog and Vietnamese,
are planned for publication later in the year.
The guide was last produced in 2001, when the State Bar gave away a half-million
copies. This year, the bar is producing an initial print run of 1.2 million.
One copy will be inserted in every issue of the May Bar Journal.
To pre-order additional copies of Kids & the Law, e-mail kids@calbar.ca.gov
and state the number desired (i.e., 100 copies, 200 copies), the language (English,
Spanish and/or Chinese) and provide a full name and complete mailing address
(no P.O. boxes, please). Your order will be shipped in early May.
If you do not have access to e-mail, please provide the information above in
a letter addressed to: State Bar of California, Office of Media & Information
Services, Attn: Kids & the Law, 180 Howard St., San Francisco, CA 94105-1639.
