Ex-bar president Herman named to Judicial Council

Chief Justice Ronald George appointed former State Bar President James Herman
and four others to the California Judicial Council last month.
Herman, a partner with Reicker, Pfau, Pyle, McRoy & Herman of Santa Barbara,
led the bar in 2002-03 after serving three years on the board of governors.
Last year, he received the Bernard E. Witkin Distinguished Service Amicus Curiae
Award from the Judicial Council for extraordinary leadership and contributions
to the administration of justice in California.
Also named to the council were:
- Justice Candace D. Cooper, Second Appellate District. Cooper previously
served on the council in 1988-89 as president of the California Judges Association.
- Suzanne N. Kingsbury, presiding judge, El Dorado Superior Court. She currently
serves on three Judicial Council committees.
- Douglas P. Miller, presiding judge, Riverside Superior Court. He also serves
on several Judicial Council committees
- Tamara L. Beard, executive officer of the Fresno County Superior Court.
She received the Judicial Administrator of the Year Award in 2002.
