Records destruction

Proposed record destruction policy would enable the State Bar to destroy, after a set period of time has expired, closed files that did not lead to formal disciplinary proceedings. Any records and files related to formal disciplinary proceedings, files having historic or institutional significance or files related to litigation in which the bar is a party would not be affected

Out-of-state members for State Bar entities

Proposal to (1) limit appointment of out-of-state members to those who bring expertise to the subject matter of the committee that is not readily available from in-state California attorneys; (2) require that the appointment or continuing service of such a member not cause any financial or other hardship for the bar or the committee; and (3) ensure that an out-of-state member is subject to the same appointment process and review as in-state members

Appointment of inactive members to bar entities

Proposed amendment to Article I, Sec. 4 of the Rules and Regulations of the State Bar deletes reference to the outdated “local administrative committee” and replaces it with the statement “committees whose membership is restricted to active members by statute or other board policy.”
