Marin activist named to public seat on bar board
Richard A. Rubin, president of a public affairs management firm in San Francisco,
was appointed to the State Bar Board of Governors by the Senate Rules Committee.
Rubin, 64, will be one of six public members on the 23-member bar board.

Rubin has 35 years of experience in business, government affairs, public policy
management, strategic planning and law. He founded Richard A. Rubin Associates
in 1987, and represents clients as diverse as engineering firms, architects,
museums and the San Francisco Opera, helping them form business strategies.
Rubin, whose term runs until Sept. 1, 2007, replaces Chantel Walker.
He is a longtime community activist in Marin County, where he chairs the Strawberry
Recreation District and was co-founder of the Partnership for a Healthy Bay.
Rubin is vice chair of the California Small Business Board, to which he was
appointed by Gov. Gray Davis.
He earned a law degree from George Washington University but has not practiced
law and is not a member of the California bar.
