Thousand Oaks attorney Michael Tenenbaum survived a challenge to his eligibility to represent State Bar District 6 on the board of governors following a review by a bar panel. Tenenbaum, 39, was confirmed as the winner and was to be sworn in at the bar’s Annual Meeting in Monterey.
Although he defeated two other candidates in the July election, Tenenbaum’s eligibility was challenged based on the location of his principal place of business. Elected board members must maintain their principal place of business in the district they represent. A three-person committee looked into Tenenbaum’s eligibility and determined that his principal office for the practice of law was in District 6, which encompasses Riverside, San Bernardino, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties.
Bar President Holly Fujie said that she was pleased that the process had ended and welcomed Tenenbaum to the board. “I am looking forward to a substantive and hardworking year with this board, and Mr. Tenenbaum will make an important contribution to this on behalf of his District 6 constituents,” Fujie said.
