Chief Trial Counsel seeks a second four-year term

Scott Drexel, chief trial counsel for the State Bar, is seeking reappointment to a second four-year term. The appointment will be made by the board of governors and requires state Senate confirmation.
The board is seeking input from members of the public, the legal profession and others regarding consideration of Drexel’s request. He serves as the bar’s chief law enforcement officer.

Drexel, 60, heads the bar’s disciplinary unit, which is responsible for investigating complaints against attorneys and prosecuting cases of professional misconduct.
His term expires this year; if reappointed, a new term will last through 2013.
The board’s Committee on Regulation, Admissions & Discipline will evaluate all materials it receives about the chief trial counsel position and will make a recommendation to the full board at its May meeting.
