Amendment to rule 6.31 of the State Bar rules regarding election to the board of governors will conform the deadline for adjusting State Bar districts to the date nominating petitions for the next board election are available, Feb. 1.

Bar board elections

Proposed revisions to the State Bar Rules would clarify procedures with regard to address requirements to establish eligibility to run or vote in board of governors elections. The change would make an attorney’s official State Bar address the default for determining eligibility for candidacy and voting.

More conduct rules

Eleven proposed new or amended Rules of Professional Conduct include scope of representation, confidentiality of information, use of confidential information, imputation of personal conflicts, imputation of conflicts in general, duties to former clients, former judge, arbitrator, mediator, clients with diminished capacity, advisor, responsibilities of a prosecutor and choice of law.
