Minority conference to focus on legal
careers in the 21st century

The annual gathering of the state's minority attorneys on June 20-21 in Los Angeles will focus on the future of legal careers in the year 2000.

"The New Millennium: Achieving Success in All Facets of Your Legal Career in the 21st Century," will be the theme of the conference, to be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, 711 S. Hope St.

MCLE-approved workshops during the conference will include topics such as "Diversity on the Bench," "Becoming In-House and/or General Counsel," "Alternative Careers in Law," "Exploiting the Internet: The Next Generation" and "Opening Your Own Law Office."

At the conference, the State Bar's Ethnic Minority Relations Committee will announce the establishment of the Justice Allen E. Broussard Humanitarian Award, in honor of the late California Supreme Court jurist.

The conference begins with a Friday evening reception, followed by a Saturday morning kick-off gathering featuring U.S. District Court Judge Saundra Brown Armstrong.
