A constitutional amendment permitting counties to voluntarily unify their superior and municipal courts is on the June 2 ballot.
Proposition 220 (SCA 4) is designed to create s single trial court in each county. It permits a majority of the superior court judges and a majority of municipal court judges of a county to vote to create a unified or single superior court.
The measure, which was approved by the legislature in June 1996, requires a majority for approval. If it passes, it will take effect immediately.
