Lawyers' Mutual sets interactive seminars Lawyers'
Mutual Insurance Co. will sponsor statewide interactive seminars this fall to educate its
members about available low-cost, high-tech law practice solutions.
Presenters are Martin Dean, James Evans and Albert Barsocchini. The seminars are set in
Monterey, Fresno, San Rafael, Eureka, Oakland, San Jose, Sacramento, San Diego, Palm
Springs and the San Fernando Valley.

Lexis-Nexis Group consolidates companies
The Lexis-Nexis Group has announced the formation of Lexis Publishing, which will bring
under one umbrella five of its legal information brands: Lexis-Nexis, Shepard's,
Matthew-Bender, Martindale-Hubbell and Michie.
The new organization will be led by Paul W.A. Brown, president, and Nicholas R. Emrick,
chief operating officer.
Martindale-Hubbell will be operated as a separate unit of Lexis Publishing. Its leader
will be Lou Andreozzi.
Lexis also announced the introduction of lexis.com research system, which combines its
Shepard's Citations, Matthew Bender treatises and Lexis online services.
LPM Section sets program on starting a practice
The State Bar's Law Practice Management and Technology Section will present an MCLE
program at the annual meeting entitled "Starting/Growing Your Own Practice."
The program will present the necessities for starting or enlarging a practice and cover
such topics as timing and budgeting, image, technology, personnel, procedures, clients and
gaining expertise.
The program will be offered at 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 3. Attendees will receive two hours
of MCLE credit. The exact location of the class will be available at the annual meeting in
Long Beach.
Matthew Bender releases analysis of Article 9
Matthew Bender & Co. has released Uniform Commercial Code: Analysis of Revised
Article 9. The one-volume publication is the first in-depth analysis of the revised
Article 9 and the only volume that integrates expert legal analysis with the text of the
new article.
The publication contains the full text and official comments of the new Article,
supplemented with extensive analysis, section by section, from Professor Julian McDonnell.
