Proposed modification of Article 1, §1 of the
Rules and Regulations of the State Bar would keep confidential in the
bar's address change records the home addresses of current or former
judges or court commissioners, current or former members of the
legislature and attorneys currently employed by the Department of
Justice, Office of the State Public Defender, the State Bar, a county
district attorney, public defender, county counsel or lawyers for a
city attorney's office for up to three years following termination
of that employment.

Legal specialists
Three amendments to the Rules Governing the State
Bar's Program for Certifying Legal Specialists would (1) reinstate
an alternative to the exam, which allows certification applicants the
option of satisfying additional task and experience requirements; (2)
increase the number of years during which the percentage of practice
requirement applies from three to five years; and (3) add criteria
relating to discipline and professional negligence that may be used in
evaluating an applicant's proficiency and ethics. Full text of the
