Two third-year members of the State Bar Board of Governors will seek the
presidency of the 166,000-plus lawyer organization for the coming year. Andrew Guilford,
48, of Costa Mesa, and James Seff, 58, of San Francisco announced that they will seek the
one-year office.
The board of governors will select the new president at its August meeting.
Four other third-year members, attorneys John Collins of Pasadena, Judith Gilbert of
Calabasas, George Porter of Ontario and public member John Morris elected not to run.
The winner will succeed Raymond C. Marshall of San Francisco.
The candidates currently serve as vice presidents of the board, to which they were
elected in 1996.
Guilford represents District 8 (Orange County) and Seff District 4 (San Francisco and
Marin counties).
The new president will take office at the conclusion of the bar's annual meeting in
Long Beach on Oct. 3 |
