Going behind closed doors

The efforts of two groups of students participating in the Law Works program in rural northern California and urban Los Angeles may have an impact on both state and federal legislation.

At Wilson High School in Los Angeles, students focused their Law Works project in the area of domestic violence, designing a

presentation geared specifically to educate and inform elementary school students about the issue.

Working with their teacher, Neal Haworth, and Los Angeles attorney Patricia A. Johnson, the students decided that the root of violence in their community could be traced back to violence in the home.
