Judge Paul Gutman of the Los Angeles Superior Court was named the 1999
family law judge of the year last month by the State Bar's family law section. Chris
Moore, a member of the section's executive committee, lauded Gutman for substantially
reducing the time required to get long cause matters through court from 24 to five months.
Moore also cited the style, wit and elegance with which Gutman demands that all family
law attorneys live up to the ideals of their practice and the legal profession.
Gutman, 68, has been a judge since 1993 and has served as supervising judge of Los
Angeles County's family law courts for four years.
The family law judge of the year award has been bestowed annually since the mid-1980s. |
